What does the service do?
The service:
- provides support to people who receive direct payments and want
to employ a personal assistant;
- keeps a database of people who are interested in becoming
personal assistants;
- promotes the role of the personal assistant; and
- organises training for personal assistants and people who
receive direct payments.
ID Cards
In response to issues raised by those in receipt of Direct
Payments, PASS in partnership with the Disability Partnership based
at Leigh Sports Village, can produce an ID card to confirm that
someone requires support to access a sport, leisure or other venue.
The card will be produced in the name of the person requiring
support and will contain their picture. The card will also confirm
that you are in receipt of Direct Payments from Wigan Council and
can be verified by contact to the Disability Partnership. The card
costs £5 per year and it is hoped that by producing the card your
Personal Assistant will be able to access the venue free of charge
or at a reduced rate. This does not replace established systems
such as the Cinema card. To obtain an ID card please complete the
attached form and send it to Leigh Sports Village (address included
on the form) along with a recent picture and cheque for £5.
