Wigan Council Carers Loss and Bereavement Counselling
Service
Anyone over the age of 18 who is caring for, or who has cared
for someone, who is aged 18 or over can access
this 'person-centred' counselling. The counsellor will
listen to you, try to help you understand your feelings, make sense
of what is happening, and try to find ways of making changes.

CIMH Carers in Mental Health
CIMH supports carers of people with severe mental health
problems (bipolar, schizophrenia, schizo-affective disorder,
clinical depression)
The group is an opportunity for people to get together
and know that they are not alone. Meetings take place every third
Tuesday in the month. Invited guests provide support and
information about services. There are also breaks for carers if
grants are available. Membership is £1 per person
when the group meets.

Making Space Carers Support Group
Making Space is a support group for carers of people with
mental health problems. The group meets every second
Friday of the month to provide support and share
information. There are no charges for this
service.

Optimists Group
A self help group for the visually impaired and their
carers. This is a social group which provides social
activities and meetings where problems that stem from our
sight loss are discussed. Speakers are also invited to the
meetings to talk about different topics. The group also enjoys
outings which give people with sight loss more confidence to get
around.

Visionaries
A support network and self help group
for people who are vision impaired and their
carers. Based in Leigh, the group provides
information and advice, social activities and outings.
There is a membership fee of £48 per year payable in monthly
