Supported Employment

Wigan Council Supported Employment Service specialises in supporting people with disabilities into gaining and sustaining paid employment and has done this successfully for over 15 years.

Wigan Council Supported Employment Service works with local companies and organisations to find paid employment that matches the needs and skills of people who have previously been unable to find the right kind of work. This could be because of their physical or learning disabilities, problems with sight or hearing, mental health or have acquired a brain injury.

Short term work placements, which will hopefully lead to full time permanent positions, are arranged with local companies to offer a chance for both employers and employees to explore the work environment.

Advice on benefits, college courses and basic skills is also available to all participants.  Specialist trainers provide one to one support in the workplace and enable you to work towards working independently.
