What is available?

There are two properties in the Wigan and Leigh area that operate as guesthouses to enable people who have a learning disability to enjoy a short break. One is situated in Golborne and the other is in Leigh.

Both have facilities for people with disabilities and trained staff on hand to offer help and support where needed.

What accommodation is available?

Green Lane

Green Lane provides a lively environment with always lots going on for people who like to be active and social. This has five guest bedrooms, all with wash basins. Two bedrooms are on the ground floor, and three bedrooms are on the first floor. The house has a wheel-in shower facility, two lounge areas and one kitchen area. These provide opportunities for people to have time together with other people, or time alone if you wish.

Church Street

Church Street is a dormer bungalow and provides an accessible environment for guests. There are four guest bedrooms on the ground floor, all with wash basin. There is a fully adapted bathroom on the ground floor and a walk-in shower.

Who can stay there?

Both these guest houses offer accommodation for people over the age of 18, who live in the Wigan and Leigh area, and who have learning and/or physical disabilities. However, in order to work out whether a short stay would best meet your needs, we do need to carry out an assessment.

What is an assessment?

After the assessment we will identify and agree your needs with you and discuss the help and support available to meet them, according to the seriousness of your situation.

How much does it cost?

There will be some cost but the actual amount you pay will depend on how long you stay and what services you receive.

Can I get help with the cost?

It is possible. We will help you fill out a financial assessment form to see if you qualify for financial help. To get a rough idea of costs you can carry out a quick, confidential financial self assessment, online.

How much will I pay for services?

We may provide or arrange services for you but there are other ways of getting the support you need. You can choose to have a Personal Budget and use the money that you receive from us to arrange your own support.
